Any Civil War medicine or surgical set exsisting during the Civil War could have been used during it, but it is most likely that only the Union Army supplied and used them after the early months of the war. The sets were made by American makers. As war progressed, surgeons didn't really do many surgerys. Instead, they did more follow up treatment such as changing bandages and treating disease.
